Council members, There is not doubt in my mind that the 55%+ of the voters in Pleasanton that voted for mead re PP were focused on the first two sentences in the measure: "Ridgelines and hillsides shall be protected." --and-- units and structures shall not be placed on slopes of 25 percent or greater, or withir 100 vertical feet of a ridgeline." They(as I)were expecting their vote to mean that the ridgelines and hillsides would be fully protected from any development, including putting roads on them. Moreover, both the Arguments For PP and the Arguments Against PP made references to roads in them, giving the voters even more reason to believe that the measure would apply to all forms of structures, including roads. "Our City Council majority recently approved two hilltop developments. They approved massive grading of hillsides, a mile long road spanning the top of many of our Southeast Hills, and removal of extensive wildlife and plant habitat including hundreds and hundreds of oak trees. More than 40 feet will be cut from the tops of our beautiful hills to make pads for mega-mansions.THIS MUSTBE STOPPED!" (The "THIS MUSTBE STOPPED!" was capitalized in the voter pamphlet, not by me.) Wouldn't someone that read this think that "this must be stopped" includes things like that "mile long road"? 1
