roundabouts, large pedestrian volume traveling to nearby schools and the
predominately residential nature of the roadway all support the recommended limit of 25
mph.
CLARIFYING CHANGES
The proposed changes to the speed limit section of the Municipal Code brings the
opportunity to make some clarification changes in the ordinance. Seven roadway
segments were identified in the ordinance that require clarification. These changes are
described below. In addition, ten segments are identified on the CRS map as local
roadways (prima fade speed of 25 mph) and do not need to be included in the
ordinance. These changes DO NOT ALTER any posted limits.
Bernal Avenue
The segment from the east side of the Arroyo Laguna to Pleasanton Avenue will be
broken into two segments, the east side of Arroyo Laguna to Valley Avenue and Valley
Avenue to Pleasanton Avenue. These two segments have different characteristics and
require a separation in the ordinance.
The segment identified as Vineyard Avenue to Del Valle Parkway should be changed to
Vineyard Avenue to Nevada Street. This section of Del Valle Parkway was renamed
Nevada Street.
The segment identified as Del Valle Parkway to Stanley Boulevard should be changed
to Nevada Street to Stanley Boulevard. This section of Del Valle Parkway was renamed
Nevada Street.
Black Avenue
This roadway consists of two segments with both being classified as local roads, both
will be removed from the ordinance.
Del Valle Parkway
This roadway is classified as a local road and will be removed from the ordinance.
Denker Drive
This roadway is classified as a local road and will be removed from the ordinance.
Dorman Road
This roadway is classified as a local road and will be removed from the ordinance.
Dublin Canyon Road
There are two segments for this roadway that meet at a point labeled as 0.5 mile west
of Foothill Road. These two segments now meet at Laurel Creek Drive making the first
segment from the northern City limits to Laurel Creek Drive and the second from Laurel
Creek Drive to Foothill Road. This is a more natural break in the segments that
corresponds to the changes in the roadway.
