<br /> and improve the Beach School edible garden and compost system,as well as add a rainwater cistern for irrigation.

<br /> will be used to help the school become more earth friendly. To make this possible,the school will p-.irchase laminated bin
<br /> labels to help in sorting of waste and recyclables,customized carts and totes for students and custodians to move
<br /> recyclables around on campus,grabbers, signs to guide in sorting,reusable plates and flatware,and a dishwasher.
<br /> Mini-Grant#: 12-63 Winton Middle School,Sunshine Garden,Hayward,West County,$1,000.00-Grant funds will
<br /> be used to improve and maintain the schools garden,along with teach the students to compost food scraps and
<br /> garden/yard waste. Students will also learn how different birds and insects can help the garden to flourish.
<br /> Mini-Grant#: 12-64 James Logan High School,Environmental Impact Project,Union City,West County,
<br /> $1,000.00—Funds will be used for an Environmental Impact unit for high school seniors enrolled in Expository Reading
<br /> and Writing requiring students to research an environmental issue which is important to them and then come up with a
<br /> school-focused group or individual project to address it.
<br /> Mini-Grant#: 12-65 Wood Middle School,Wood Middle School Green Lunch Program,Alameda,West County,
<br /> $1,900.00—Grant funds would be used to hire a Lunchtime Recycling Program Coordinator to work with the PTA to
<br /> solicit and oversee parent volunteers to aid in the green lunch program.
