<br /> $1,350.00-Funds will be used to enhance the school garden and reduce compostables from being sent to the landfill as
<br /> well as having students see the plant growing process and be able to work with a community project
<br /> Mini-Grant#: 12-69 Livermore High School,Waste Reduction projects at Livermore High School,Livermore,
<br /> East County,$1,232.00-Grant funds will be used to purchase classroom water filters to reduce the consumption of
<br /> plastic water bottles,recycling bags used to haul plastic across campus and a compostumbler to reduce waste rot.
<br /> Mini-Grant#: 12-70 Alameda County Health Care Services Agency,Ashland Youth Green Team at Edendale
<br /> School,San Leandro,West County,$1,000.00-Funds from this grant will be used to teach youth sustainable
<br /> agricultural skills of which a key part is recycling and composting. AYGT will work with Edendale Middle School
<br /> teachers and lead principal to implement an 8-10 week recycling and composting project,equipping youth with increased
<br /> skills and educating the whole school.
<br /> Mini-Grant#: 12-71 Davis Street Preschool,Davis Street Preschool Sustainable garden,San Leandro,West
<br /> County,$595.00-Funds from this grant will be used to develop a sustainable garden and to foster awareness for better
<br /> gardening methods amongst low income students. The school will purchase a Rainsaver Rainbarrel to collect rainwater
<br /> throughout the year for use in the school garden, a compost tumbler will be purchased to recycle great waste and a worm
<br /> farm to fertilize the garden self-sufficiently.
<br /> Mini-Grant#: 12-72 MyPetWormyWorm.info,MyPetWormyWorm—Saves the Earth,Alameda,West County,
<br /> $3,000.00-Funds from this grant will be used to continue to implement"Starter Kits"into local schools to create
<br /> educational book and products. From these starter kits children will learn about how our gardens grow from garbage.
<br /> This is a fun and exciting program where children learn about vermicomposting,recycling,repurposing and reducing
<br /> waste that would otherwise end up in the landfill.

<br /> be used to provide reuse education and leadership training opportunities for 50 youth ages 10-14 of low-income families
<br /> residing in East Oakland. After completing a 16 week after-school training program,participants carry out a promotional
<br /> event which highlights reuse practices and provides reuse services(bike donation/recycling,repair classes,and
<br /> maintenance) for the school community. Two training programs and two community events will take place during the
<br /> 2012-2013 school year.

<br /> $900.00-Grant funds will be used to reduce waste at Five Canyons events and on campus by purchasing non-breakable
<br /> reusable plates,cups, silverware and containers to store items.
<br /> Mini-Grant#: 12-93 Castlemont High School,Castlemont High Lunch Waste Reduction,Oakland,West County,
<br /> $1,000.00-A team of high school students will carry out a food scrap recycling program which will reduce Castlemont's
<br /> lunch waste by 40-50%.
