Debbi Look of Assembly member Joan Buchanan's office conveyed her deep appreciation to each <br /> outgoing Councilmember for their tremendous and dedicated service to the community. <br /> Catherine Lin, Senator Mark DeSaulnier's office, extended the Senator's thanks for the outgoing <br /> Councilmembers' dedicated service to the City of Pleasanton. She also extended his congratulations to <br /> the new Mayor and Councilmembers and said he looks forward to working with the entire Council. <br /> OATH OF OFFICE <br /> Judge Steve Pulido, Alameda County Superior Court, administered the Oath of Office to Mayor-elect <br /> Jerry Thorne. <br /> Retired Judge Ron Hyde administered the Oath of Office to Councilmember-elect Jerry Pentin. <br /> City Clerk Karen Diaz administered the Oath of Office to Councilmember-elect Karla Brown. <br /> Mayor Thorne thanked Councilmember Cook-Kallio for running an interesting and challenging <br /> campaign. He also thanked his wife for her unwavering support and the hundreds of volunteers on his <br /> campaign. He extended particular thanks to Jack Dove, who first got him started on the Council; <br /> Juanita Haugen's a very dear friend and political mentor; Kathy Narum and other key members of his <br /> campaign. He personally assured the public that he would strive to protect the trust the voters placed in <br /> him and to represent the best interests of the community. <br /> Councilmember Brown said she is truly honored to serve as an elected representative of the <br /> Pleasanton community. She extended special thanks and appreciation to her opponents, her family, <br /> key members of her campaign, and Councilmembers McGovern and Sullivan for encouraging her to <br /> step forward to fill some rather large shoes. <br /> Councilmember Pentin thanked the outgoing Mayor and Councilmembers for their dedication and <br /> service to the residents of Pleasanton. He extended his thanks to City staff with whom he has worked <br /> for the last 15 years through the Parks and Recreation Commission, Planning Commission and various <br /> other task forces and committees. He thanked many of those named by Mayor Thorne and <br /> Councilmember Brown as well as his family and his campaign manager, Herb Ritter. He promised to <br /> devote his efforts to ensuring that the Pleasanton he loves and enjoys today and the Pleasanton of the <br /> future are one and the same. <br /> Councilmember Cook-Kallio congratulated Mayor Thorne on his victory and said she looks forward to <br /> working with the new Council. <br /> BREAK/RECONVENE MEETING: Mayor Thorne called a brief recess and thereafter reconvened the <br /> regular meeting at 7:56 p.m. <br /> ROLL CALL <br /> Present: Councilmembers Brown, Cook-Kallio, Pentin, Mayor Thorne <br /> Absent: One Vacancy <br /> CONSENT CALENDAR <br /> City Attorney <br /> 4.
