BACKGROUND
On May 3, 2011, the City Council adopted the Planning Commission recommendation to
re-evaluate the Downtown Historic Preservation policies, guidelines, and processes as a
Council priority. At its October 18, 2011 meeting, the Council approved the creation of an
ad hoc Task Force to consist of seven members — two Planning Commissioners and five
at-large Pleasanton residence to explore these issues.
At its June 19, 2012 meeting, the City Council approved the award of the Professional
Services Agreement to Architectural Resources Group for the preparation of the Local
Historic Context Statement in response to the Task Force's desire to have a document
that connects the City's history to the built environment and provides a basis on which to
evaluate the significance of potential historic resources of the City.
DISCUSSION
Architectural Resources Group has completed the Local Historic Context Statement. The
Task Force will be hosting a public workshop on the Statement in early 2013 in advance
of a "check-in" with City Council at a regular Council meeting. The Task Force and staff
would like the consultant to attend the public meeting as well as the future Council
meeting. Funding for the consultant's attendance at these two meetings was not
included in the original contract.
Submitted by: Approved by:
4/11/4 AfttAs
Brian Dolan Nelson Fialho
Director of Community Development City Manager
Attachments:
1.
