DISCUSSION
For many years, the Alameda County Fire Department (ACFD) has provided emergency
services to the VAMC by contract. This service was provided primarily from ACFD's
Station 8 located on College Avenue. The LPFD provided assistance to ACFD by
Automatic Aid Agreement. The LPFD, over the last five years, has responded an
average of approximately 40 times annually under this agreement.
The relocation of ACFD's Station 8 personnel to the Lawrence Livermore National
Laboratory (LLNL) necessitates a new contract with the closest available fire
department which is now the LPFD.
By approving the Revenue Sharing Agreement, the City Council will ratify the City of
Livermore's October 22, 2012 action to authorize the LPFD to provide emergency
services to the VAMC.
Revenue Explanation and Allocation
The 2012-13 revenue is $790,593, escalating to $960,970 in 2016-17. This amount
was calculated by dividing the anticipated request for service from the VAMC-Livermore
(approximately 190 annually) by the total LPFD responses (approximately 10,200
annually) and multiplying that percentage by the total LPFD operating budget.
Submitte/.y: Fiscal Review: Approved y:
t,
C
James guel Emily E.
