Councilmember McGovern asked if staff had already reached out to each party regarding mediation.
Mr. Fialho said he had reached to one party. While he did not believe there was any interest on their
part, he said he would convey the Council's wishes and see if he could not bring them to the table.
Councilmember Sullivan requested clarification on the existing height discrepancy.
Assistant City Manager Bocian stated that roughly 1/3rd of the fence is significantly lower than 6 feet
while the remaining 2/31d is at 6 feet. He estimated there to be a 3-inch deviation between the Baker
fence and Ms. Fink's fence.
Councilmember Sullivan asked if there was Council interest in Mr. Norman's recommendation
regarding a peace commission.
Councilmember Cook-Kallio said she would like to defer the matter until the full Council is present.
Vice-Mayor Thorne said he is scheduled to attend a League of California Cities board meeting and
conference in several weeks. He asked staff to provide the Council with a copy of the resolution
package.
COUNCIL REPORTS
ADJOURNMENT
There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 11:36 p.m. The Council extended a
tribute to our nation's men and women serving in the military. We wish to honor the memories of those
who have died in past wars in defense of our country, including those who have died in the current
conflicts in Iraq and Afghanistan.
Respectfully submitted,
Karen Diaz
City Clerk
City Council Minutes Page 19 of 19 August 21,2012
