input could be provided though representatives in other EVC positions. The changes
recommended by the EVC are still fully aligned with the goals of the City's Economic
Development Strategic Plan.
The EVC acknowledges that a committee of 22 members is large in comparison to other
City commission and committees, but the members feel that the size represents the
breadth of industry segments and stakeholders in Pleasanton, and further that the
recommended changes are important as the impact of these particular entities is
significant to the ongoing economic strength of our community. EVC members note also
that the recommended list of EVC positions is advantageous in that it is localized to
Pleasanton and as such supports the value of the committee to the Council.
Additionally, the EVC is not recommending a change in the number of representatives
for each category, noting that one representative per each category ensures balanced
representation and does not weight any one category over the others.
The EVC is hereby recommending the following membership categories for the
Economic Vitality Committee, with changes noted in bold italics:
Membership Category Description
Chamber of Commerce A representative recommended by the board of
directors of the Chamber of Commerce whose
membership in the organization is expected to be
at least two years from the time of the
appointment to the Committee
Commercial Real Estate Development A representative from a commercial builder or
developer with an office located in Pleasanton or
who directly serves the Pleasanton community
Commercial Real Estate Broker A representative from a business specializing in
commercial real estate leasing or sales with an
office located in Pleasanton or who directly serves
the Pleasanton community
Stoneridge Shopping Center A representative from Stoneridge Shopping
Center
Pleasanton Downtown Association A representative from a business located in the
city's downtown district and recommended by the
board of directors of the Pleasanton Downtown
Association
Residential Real Estate Development A representative from a residential builder or
developer with an office located in Pleasanton or
who directly serves the Pleasanton community
Residential Real Estate Broker A representative from a business specializing in
residential real estate leasing or sales with an
office located in Pleasanton or who directly serves
the Pleasanton community
Financial Services A representative from a financial institution or
financial services company or business with an
office located in Pleasanton
Citizen At Large A resident of Pleasanton
Page 3 of 5
