THE CITY OF <br /> 8 <br /> pL£ASANTONC CITY COUNCIL AGENDA REPORT <br /> August 21, 2012 <br /> Community Development <br /> Engineering Division <br /> TITLE: APPROVE A PROFESSIONAL SERVICES AGREEMENT WITH <br /> GATES + ASSOCIATES IN THE AMOUNT OF $49,208 FOR DESIGN AND <br /> BIDDING SUPPORT FOR THE STAPLES RANCH IRRIGATION AND <br /> LANDSCAPING IMPROVEMENTS AT EL CHARRO ROAD AND THE 1-580 <br /> INTERCHANGE, CIP NO. 115023 <br /> SUMMARY <br /> The proposed professional services agreement secures the services of <br /> Gates + Associates to provide design and bidding support services for landscaping <br /> improvements at El Charro Road and the 1-580 interchange. Gates + Associates has <br /> proposed to perform these necessary services for a not-to-exceed amount of $49,208. <br /> RECOMMENDATION <br /> 1. Approve the attached professional services agreement with Gates + Associates, to <br /> provide complete improvement design and construction bid document creation for <br /> the Staples Ranch Irrigation and Landscaping Improvements at El Charro Road and <br /> the 1-580 Interchange project, CIP 115023, in the not-to-exceed amount of $49,208. <br /> 2. Authorize the City Manager to execute the agreement. <br /> FINANCIAL STATEMENT <br /> The 2011 Capital Improvement Program (CIP) budget for this project (CIP No. 115023) <br /> is $350,000. In addition, there is $138,358 of Regional Measure 2 (RM 2) <br /> reimbursement funding available from the Alameda County Transportation Commission <br /> as a result of an RM 2 Fund Transfer Agreement for the Eastbound 1-580 Landscape <br /> Replacement project, resulting in a total budget of $488,358 available for design and <br /> construction of this project. <br /> Since the City will be maintaining the landscaping there will be an increase in <br /> maintenance cost. Design of the project will be coordinated with the Operations <br /> Services Department to ensure efficient maintenance. <br />
