SECTION 5. Para-Time Employment - <br /> <br /> Employees working less than the number of hours per week estab- <br /> lished for their class shall be paid at an hourly rate based upon the regular <br /> annual s~lary and the re~,lar n,-.her of hours per year so established for <br /> full-time employees. <br /> <br /> SECTION 6. Positiona - <br /> <br /> The number of positions in each classification shall be deter- <br />m~.ed by the City Council and funds for the salaries for such positions <br />shall be budgeted, and employees shall be appointed in such numbers and at <br />such salaries as may be necessary to properly operate the City under the <br />State law and according to ordinances and resolutions adopted by the said <br />Council. <br /> <br /> SECTION 7. Appointments and Salaries - <br /> <br /> Allocations of present City employees to classes and to salary <br />steps within the salary ranges established hereby, shall be made by reso- <br />lution of the City Council. Appointments to vacant positions in the future <br />shall be according to policy established by ordinance and/or resolution of <br />the City Council. Normally, beginning salaries sba]] be at the first sal- <br />ary step of the salary ra~e provided, however, that under unusual circum- <br />stances and where qualifications so warrant and subject to the l~m~ts of <br />funds budgeted therefor, a begtnn~nE salary may be designated at a salary <br />rate o2 salary step other than the first salary step within the range. <br /> <br /> Subject to satisfactory performance, a salary step increase may <br />be authorized on the first day of the month following six months of satis- <br />factory service and annually thereafter u~ltil the final salary step is <br />reached in the salary range. <br /> <br /> In the case of outstanding ability and service and/or when con- <br />sidered appropriate for the good of the City service, the City Council may <br />authorize a me,it salary step increase within the salary range, and in such <br /> <br />-2- <br /> <br /> <br />
