CITY COUNCIL AGENDA REPORT <br /> June 19, 2012 <br /> Community Development <br /> Traffic Engineering Division <br /> TITLE: APPROVE A LANDSCAPE MAINTENANCE AGREEMENT AND <br /> AMENDMENT NUMBER 2 TO THE FREEWAY MAINTENANCE <br /> AGREEMENT WITH CALTRANS FOR FUTURE I-580/FOOTHILL ROAD <br /> INTERCHANGE IMPROVEMENTS <br /> SUMMARY <br /> The I-580/Foothill Road Interchange project is designed to improve interchange <br /> operations and safety, provide improved access for pedestrians and bicyclists, and <br /> relieve traffic weaving concerns at the intersection of Foothill Road and Canyon <br /> Way/Dublin Canyon Road. The project design is nearly complete and is awaiting <br /> Caltrans final approval before construction can begin. <br /> Existing maintenance agreements (Freeway and Landscape) have been in place with <br /> Caltrans since 1978. These agreements clarify responsibilities for the maintenance of I- <br /> 580 (Caltrans), connecting roadways (Pleasanton) and surrounding landscaped areas <br /> (Pleasanton). The original agreements include provisions to amend the agreements <br /> when future improvements or minor revisions are planned. These agreements must be <br /> updated and amended before Caltrans will approve the new Foothill Interchange <br /> design. <br /> RECOMMENDATION <br /> Staff recommends that the City Council approve the attached Landscape Maintenance <br /> Agreement and amended Freeway Maintenance Agreement. <br /> FINANCIAL STATEMENT <br /> The landscape agreement will not result in additional landscape maintenance cost. The <br /> agreement has minor adjustments to the landscape area. <br /> The Freeway agreement will result in a small increase in annual operation and <br /> maintenance costs for the additional infrastructure installed by the project. <br />
