8 <br /> THE CITY OF <br /> CITY COUNCIL AGENDA REPORT <br /> pL EASANTON, <br /> May 15, 2012 <br /> Community Services <br /> TITLE: APPROVE THE LOCATION OF THE PUBLIC ARTWORK, "COMET" AT <br /> THE FIREHOUSE ARTS CENTER <br /> SUMMARY <br /> "Comet" is a bronze and silver sculpture mounted on top of a pink granite base that has <br /> been donated to the City's public art collection by Nancy and Gary Harrington. This <br /> report recommends that it be installed at the rear entrance side of the Firehouse Arts <br /> Center against the building within a natural curve of the exterior. In accordance with the <br /> City's Public Art Program, "Comet," and its location, was approved by the Public Art <br /> Selection Subcommittee and the Civic Arts Commission. <br /> CIVIC ARTS COMMISSION RECOMMENDATION <br /> That the City Council approve the location of the public artwork, "Comet" at the <br /> Firehouse Arts Center. <br /> RECOMMENDATION <br /> Approve the location of the public artwork, "Cornet" at the Firehouse Arts Center. <br /> FINANCIAL STATEMENT <br /> The artwork "Comet," which is valued at $25,556, has been donated to the City by <br /> Nancy and Gary Harrington. Pursuant to the terms of the Harrington Art Partnership, it <br /> is the City's responsibility to coordinate and pay for the installation of the public artwork. <br /> The cost of installing the piece is estimated at $3,000 and will be funded through the <br /> Public Art Acquisition Fund #038-900-4385. <br />
