Consideration of Options for Merging the Housing and Human Services <br /> Commissions <br /> Mr. Bocian advised that at the August 2011 meetings, the Human Services and Housing <br /> Commissions each approved the preparation of a report that would provide information <br /> concerning the potential for merging the two Commissions. At these meetings, the <br /> Commissions identified the following scope of information that should be included in the <br /> report: <br /> • A draft listing of duties for a combined commission <br /> • Current and anticipated workload of both commissions <br /> • Survey information regarding commission structures for housing and human services <br /> oversight in other communities <br /> • An outline of how commissioner phasing/attrition would occur <br /> • Address concerns that existing commissioners are adequately trained to handle the <br /> duties of the new commission <br /> • Provide a listing of positives and negatives resulting from merging the commissions <br /> Mr. Bocian reviewed with Commissioners a draft listing of duties for a merged <br /> commission and information on the potential commissioner workload. He also provided <br /> survey information from surrounding communities, options for commission membership, <br /> and the advantages and disadvantages of merging the two commissions. <br /> Mr. Bocian then reviewed with Commissioners' comments and action taken by the <br /> Human Services Commission at its November 2, 2011 meeting. He then asked if this <br /> Commission wanted to provide feedback and continue with the review process. <br /> Chairperson Lopez opened the meeting for public comment at 8: 40 p.m. <br /> Page - 1 - <br />
