ATTACHMENT 4 <br /> THE CITY OF <br /> sain 1116 loll Human Services <br /> Commission Minutes <br /> �Lr��S�NTON® [EXCERPTS <br /> City Council Chamber, 200 Old Bernal Avenue <br /> February 1, 2012 — 7:00 p.m. <br /> CALL TO ORDER <br /> Chairperson Nagler called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. The Pledge of Allegiance to the flag <br /> was recited. <br /> Roll Call <br /> Commissioners Present: Joyce Berger, David Lambert, David Nagler, Brock Roby, Don <br /> Wilson, Rosiland Wright, and Chairperson Theresa Rowland. <br /> Commissioners Absent: Prashant Jhanwar. <br /> Staff Present: Steven Bocian, Assistant City Manager, Kathleen Yurchak, <br /> Community Services Manager, Scott Erickson, Housing Specialist; <br /> and Edith Caponigro, Recording Secretary. <br /> MATTERS BEFORE THE COMMISSION <br /> 5. Continued Discussion Regarding Options for Merging the Housing and Human <br /> Services Commissions <br /> Mr. Bocian noted that at the November 2, 2011, meeting, the Commission had reviewed a report <br /> outlining various aspects related to a potential merger of the Human Services and Housing <br /> Commissions. He reviewed the three (3) primary points made at the meeting which were: <br /> . Commission membership should be seven (7) members of which at least one (1) member <br /> would have expertise in the field of human services and one (1) would have expertise in the <br /> field of affordable housing. <br /> • The proposed listing of duties should be amended to include making recommendations on <br /> allocating City grant dollars to human services organizations to maximize community <br /> benefits. <br /> • A commissioner transition plan would be developed which establishes full membership within <br /> a reasonable time frame after the new commission is formed. <br /> Additionally, Mr. Bocian reviewed with the Commission the two (2) options discussed at the <br /> November meeting for transitioning current Housing Commission and Human Services <br /> Commission members to a new commission.
