Ms. Langan discussed the challenges of the program and the collaboration <br /> with the PSEE program. <br /> Commission comments and questions asked of the representative included: <br /> • Concerns on whether PSEE should be the applicant for the funds, the collaboration <br /> between PSEE and PCAC, and whether PSEE supported school band and string <br /> programs. <br /> • Whether possible funding for the program could come from PPIE. <br /> • Clarification on why this program was important to teachers and whether teacher <br /> requests were duplicative. <br /> • Concerns about the funds being used as "pass-through" funds. <br /> Tri-Valley Repertory Theater, Betty DeSantis/Kathleen Breedveld — Funds Requested: $7,500 <br /> — informed the Commission that the Tri-Valley Repertory Theater had recently moved to a new <br /> location and that the funds requested would be used for materials and installation of a 30-foot <br /> by 40-foot wooden sub-floor with a Marley dance floor top at the new location. <br /> Commission comments and questions asked of the representatives included: <br /> • Possibility of productions being held at the Bankhead Theater. <br /> • Incomplete budget information in the funding application. <br /> • The life span of the proposed floor and whether it would be portable for use at other <br /> locations. <br /> • Hours of operation and use of the dance floor. <br /> • Financial situation of the Repertory Theater and effects of losing the studio theater. <br /> The meeting was closed for agency presentations by Chairperson Loll at 9:40 p.m. <br /> Commissioners discussed and reviewed all applications at length and carefully considered the <br /> benefits of the requests for the Pleasanton community and whether the Commission should <br /> consider putting stipulations on funding. Concerns were expressed over the lack of <br /> presentation from Pleasanton Community Concert Band, also whether funds should be <br /> allocated as seed money for any program. <br /> The Commission questioned whether they should be considering taking the lead on having a <br /> signature art event for the City, and after much discussion agreed that the Commission was <br /> not an event producing body.
