CITY COUNCIL AGENDA REPORT <br /> pL£ASANTONa <br /> May 1, 2012 <br /> Community Development <br /> Traffic Engineering <br /> TITLE: ADOPT A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING AN APPLICATION WITH THE <br /> METROPOLITAN TRANSPORTATION COMMISSION FOR ALLOCATON <br /> OF TRANSPORTATION DEVELOPMENT ACT (TDA) ARTICLE 3 FUNDS <br /> FOR BICYCLE DETECTION AT SIGNALIZED INTERSECTIONS ALONG <br /> HOPYARD ROAD AND OWENS DRIVE <br /> SUMMARY <br /> Hopyard Road will be repaved in the summer of 2012 and new bike lanes will be added <br /> from Owens Drive to Black Avenue. Bicycle detection hardware is needed along the <br /> Hopyard Road corridor to provide optimal bicycle operation through the signalized <br /> intersections. <br /> RECOMMENDATION <br /> Adopt a resolution authorizing an application with the Metropolitan Transportation <br /> Commission (MTC) for $103,745 in Transportation Development Act (TDA) Article 3 <br /> funds for the installation of bicycle detection at signalized intersections along Hopyard <br /> Road. <br /> FINANCIAL STATEMENT <br /> There will be additional maintenance cost with the bicycle detection. This cost is <br /> expected to be $1000 per year for the corridor and will be incorporated into the traffic <br /> signal maintenance program. <br />
