THE CITY OF /
L•
pL£ASANTON. CITY COUNCIL AGENDA REPORT
March 20, 2012
Community Development
Engineering Division
TITLE: APPROVE A PROFESSIONAL SERVICES AGREEMENT WITH MACKAY
& SOMPS IN THE AMOUNT OF $191,504.00 FOR DESIGN OF THE
STAPLES RANCH: STONERIDGE DRIVE AT SANTA RITA ROAD
INTERSECTION IMPROVEMENTS, CIP NO. 115034
SUMMARY
The proposed professional services agreement secures the services of
MacKay & Somps to provide design services for intersection improvements to the
Stoneridge Drive and Santa Rita Road Intersection. As part of the mitigation
requirements for the Staples Ranch Development, the intersection improvements are
required to maintain a Level of Service (LOS) D for the intersection. MacKay & Somps
has proposed to perform these necessary services for a "not-to-exceed" amount of
$191,504.00.
RECOMMENDATION
1. Approve the attached professional services agreement with MacKay & Somps, to
provide complete design and creation of construction bid documents for the Staples
Ranch: Stoneridge Drive at Santa Rita Road Intersection Improvements, CIP
115034, in the not-to-exceed amount of$191,504.00.
2. Authorize the City Manager to execute the agreement.
FINANCIAL STATEMENT
The 2011 Capital Improvement Program (CIP) budget for this project (CIP No. 115034)
includes $1.77 million to complete improvement at this intersection. The budget
includes $300,000 for design/engineering services. The project improvements will not
increase the existing maintenance and operation costs for the intersection.
