Board Initiated Projects <br /> There were 3 Board Initiated Projects during the 2011 grant cycle. <br /> Project-Grant#: 11-33 David Darlington,Environmental Education for Kids! (EEK!),Livermore,East County, <br /> $40,000.00-The EEK! Program's primary goal is to expose students to the issues of solid waste and to give them the <br /> power to reduce and divert as much of their solid waste from the landfill while at school and at home. This grant will <br /> provide funding for 210 classroom presentations reaching 5,000 students. <br /> Project-Grant#: 11-34 Oakland Unified School District(OUSD),OUSD Green Glove Waste Reduction Program, <br /> Oakland,West County,$43,720.00-This proposal builds on the lessons learned from the districts previous scatters hot <br /> approach and over the next three years will create a sustainable,effective,district wide waste reduction program. A <br /> school Board policy to achieve 75%diversion from landfills by 2015 and a 90%reduction by 2020 will provide the <br /> foundation for this effort. The Green Gloves Waste Reduction Program creates a framework for standardizing waste <br /> reduction efforts across OUSD. <br /> Project-Grant#: 11-35 StopWaste.org,Sustainability Intern Program,Oakland,West County,$28,500.00-With <br /> these funds, StopWaste.org staff will hire and place interns in the EAB's designated city/school district and will <br /> incorporate those interns into the agency's existing intern training program. <br /> The total 2011 Expenditure Plan budget of$102,500 for Board Initiated grants was approved by the Board along <br /> with the option to carry over all unexpended funds from previous grant years and expend if necessary. Funds <br /> from previous years were expended,and a total of$112,220.00 in Board Initiated grants were awarded. <br /> ALARM Mitigation Projects <br /> Pursuant to the terms of the settlement agreement,the 2011 2011 Funding Allocations <br /> Expenditure Plan set aside$10,000 for mitigation projects for Total Allocations for 2011 were as follows: <br /> landowners in the vicinity of the landfill.The Education <br /> Advisory Board corresponded with ALARM(Altamont Board Communications,website $4,500.00 <br /> Landowners Against Rural Mismanagement)to notify them of Mini-grants $103,280.70 <br /> the available funding.No applications were submitted for Project grants $140,280.00 <br /> consideration during the 2011 funding cycle. The Board will <br /> continue to communicate with ALARM regarding appropriate Multi-Year Grants $42,500.00 <br /> projects for funding.
