Oath of Office to Committee and Commission Members <br /> Mayor Hosterman introduced the following incoming Commission and Committee members: Karen <br /> Martens, Civic Arts; Julia Murtaugh, Economic Vitality; Sophia Holbrook, Energy and the Environment; <br /> Tom Hall, Altamont Landfill Education Advisory Board; Anne Welsh, ACTIA Bicycle/Pedestrian <br /> Advisory; and Carmen Rivera-Hendrickson, ACTIA Para transit Advisory and Planning. <br /> City Clerk Karen Diaz administered the Oath of Office. <br /> 10. Public Comment <br /> Fred Norman reported that 31 American military men and women were killed in Iraq and Afghanistan <br /> during his three-week vacation and urged the Council to take an active stance against the wars. <br /> Councilmember Sullivan said he strongly opposed these wars and would support a more active <br /> response from the Council. <br /> Kathy Dowding read the names of 32 American men and women killed in Iraq and Afghanistan since <br /> the last Council meeting. <br /> PUBLIC HEARINGS AND OTHER MATTERS <br /> 12. Public Hearing: PSPA-/PUD-5-M, Nick Kavayiotis — Consider an amendment to the North <br /> Sycamore Specific Plan; and a Planned Unit Development (PUD) Major Modification to allow a <br /> memory care/assisted living facility as a permitted use and PUD Development Plan to construct <br /> an approx. 21,481 sq. ft., 46 bed, memory care/assisted living facility at 5980 and 5998 Sunol <br /> Blvd.; and certify the Negative Declaration <br /> Planning Manager Janice Stern gave the staff report and reviewed the site and floor plans via a <br /> PowerPoint presentation. She said the proposal is a 21,481 square foot project which consists of 23 <br /> residential rooms, housing 46 beds at maximum capacity, as well as administrative, dining, and therapy <br /> rooms.
