THE CITY OF 0 L

CITY COUNCIL AGENDA REPORT
pL£ASANTONe
January 17, 2012
Fire
TITLE: CONTRACT AWARD WITH SAN FRANCISCO PARAMEDIC
ASSOCIATION FOR EMS CONTINUING EDUCATION
SUMMARY
A Request for Proposal (RFP) was posted on November 23, 2011 on the City of
Pleasanton City Bid website seeking a provider for continuing education for paramedics
and emergency medical technicians (EMTs). Additionally, email notifications were sent
to three local providers informing them of the on-line posting. Three proposals were
received; San Francisco Paramedic Association, National College of Technical
Instruction, and CPR Fast. CPR Fast's proposal arrived after the posted deadline for
submittal and, as such, was not considered. Findings revealed that San Francisco
Paramedic Association was best prepared to provide this service. The contract for
services will be for two years from the date of signing, with an option to extend for one
term.
RECOMMENDATION
LPFD is recommending that San Francisco Paramedic Association be awarded the
contract to provide continuing education services for EMTs and Paramedics.
FINANCIAL STATEMENT
For each FY 11/12 and 12/13, a total of $50,000 has been budgeted for class fees for
Paramedics which more than covers the anticipated costs of the program. Total costs for
the contract shall not exceed $31,850 for each fiscal year.
