The City of
Pleasanton shall also pay 50% of the cost of the meter purchased by the City of Livermore and
any change orders associated with the City of Pleasanton/City of Livermore interconnect. These
payments shall be due to the City of Livermore upon completion of work by the Contractor and
payment to the Contractor by the City of Livermore.
(b) Intertie Connection. Potable water shall be made available at the normal system
operating pressures with the supplying agency's service zones. Operating pressures may vary
between the agencies; therefore, each agency shall maintain its own connector piping and
equipment for affecting the transfer. Said equipment shall include flow meters and batteries and
pumps or pressure reducing valves, as appropriate, for regulating the rate of flow and pressure of
the water to be transferred.
(c) Operations. Upon declaration of emergency pursuant hereto, each agency shall be
responsible for operating its own valves and shall not operate any valves of the other agency.
Both agencies shall record the meter readings before operating the intertie valves. The City of
Pleasanton shall be responsible for all maintenance and replacement costs west of the flow
meter; the City of Livermore shall be responsible for all maintenance and replacement costs east
of the flow meter; The City of Pleasanton and the City of Livermore shall equally share
maintenance and replacement costs associated with the flow meter and appurtenants within the
vault. Each agency will equally share in the repair costs for any damages incurred to the intertie
connection vault and appurtenants.
5. PAYMENT.
