THE CITY OF 06 <br /> CITY COUNCIL AGENDA REPORT <br /> pL£ASANTON. <br /> November 1, 2011 <br /> Community Services <br /> TITLE: APPROVE A NEW OPERATING AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE CITY <br /> OF PLEASANTON AND THE EAST BAY REGIONAL PARK DISTRICT <br /> FOR THE OPERATION OF PLEASANTON RIDGE AND AUGUSTIN <br /> BERNAL PARK <br /> SUMMARY <br /> In November 1989, a twenty (20) year operating agreement was entered into between <br /> the City of Pleasanton and the East Bay Regional Park District regarding maintenance <br /> of their contiguous lands with a connecting public trails system. The Agreement was <br /> developed in a spirit of mutual cooperation to avoid duplication of effort, to share certain <br /> services that are necessary for general park operations, and to provide a seamless trail <br /> experience to park visitors. With the term of the original Agreement to expire this <br /> month, the East Bay Regional Park District is requesting that the City of Pleasanton <br /> approve a new Agreement for the operation and maintenance of these parklands. <br /> RECOMMENDATION <br /> That the City Council approve, and authorize the City Manger to execute on behalf of <br /> the City, a new Operating Agreement between the City of Pleasanton and the East Bay <br /> Regional Park District for a five (5) year term with four (4) five-year extensions <br /> governing operation and maintenance of the contiguous park and open space lands at <br /> Augustin Bernal Park adjacent to Pleasanton Ridge Regional Park. <br /> FINANCIAL STATEMENT <br /> There are no additional costs associated with this Operating Agreement. Funding for <br /> park operations and maintenance of August Bernal Park is included in the FY 2011/12 <br /> Operating Budget. <br />
