06 <br /> THE CITY OF <br /> -- "' CITY COUNCIL AGENDA REPORT <br /> pL£ASANTONa <br /> October 18, 2011 <br /> Community Development <br /> Engineering Division <br /> TITLE: ACCEPT PUBLIC IMPROVEMENTS PERFORMED BY PONTE <br /> ENGINEERING CORPORATION FOR THE BI-ANNUAL CONTROL VALVE <br /> INSTALLATIONS PROJECT, CIP NO. 101011 <br /> SUMMARY <br /> The project consisted of replacing existing and damaged water main-line valves with <br /> new industry-standard valves to improve water flow at various locations along Valley <br /> Trails Drive. The City Council awarded this construction contract to Ponte Engineering <br /> Corporation on May 17, 2011. Construction of the project is now complete and ready <br /> for City Council acceptance. <br /> RECOMMENDATION <br /> 1. Accept the improvements for this project. <br /> 2. Authorize the City Clerk to file a Notice of Completion for the subject project. <br /> 3. Authorize payment of the retention in the amount of $9,802.20 to Ponte <br /> Engineering Corporation thirty days after recordation of the Notice of Completion. <br /> FINANCIAL STATEMENT <br /> Funding for this project was provided by Water Replacement Funds in the Bi-Annual <br /> Control Valve Installation project, CIP No. 101011. The project was completed for a total <br /> cost of$110,577. <br /> The replacement and upgrade of the existing infrastructure will provide easy access to <br /> water pipes and reduce both current and future maintenance problems and costs. <br />
