"a. To protect the public potable water supply <br /> of the City of Pleasanton from the possibility <br /> of contamination or pollution by isolating <br /> within its customers' internal distribution <br /> system(s) or its customers' private water <br /> system(s) such contaminants or pollutants <br /> which could backflow or back-siphon into the <br /> public water supply system and by isolating <br /> contaminants or pollutants of potential <br /> intermittent, temporary, and emergency users <br /> of the water system, including but not limited <br /> to use of fire hydrants or blow-offs; and" <br />Section 3: Section 2-16.50(2)(a) of Article 4 (Control of <br /> Backflow and Cross-Connections), Chapter 9, Title <br /> II of the Ordinance Code of the City of Pleasanton <br /> is amended to read as follows: <br /> <br /> "a. No water service connection to any premises <br /> or from a fire hydrant or any other temporary <br /> or emergency water service connection from <br /> the public potable water system shall be <br /> installed or maintained by the Water Purveyor <br /> unless the water supply is protected as required <br /> by State laws and regulation and this ordinance. <br /> Service of water to any premises shall be dis- <br /> continued by the Water Purveyor if a backflow <br /> prevention device required by the ordinance <br /> is not installed, tested and maintained, or if <br /> it is found that a backflow prevention device <br /> has been removed, by-passed ~r if an unprotected <br /> cross-connection exists on the premises. Service <br /> will not be restored until such conditions or <br /> defects are corrected. Temporary, intermittent <br /> and emergency users of the water system shall <br /> be considered as consumers on premises for the <br /> purposes of this Article and shall be subject <br /> to the same cross-connection control requirements <br /> as water service connections to any premises." <br /> <br /> Section 4: This ordinance shall be published once within <br /> fifteen (15) days after its adoption in "The Valley <br /> Times," a newspaper of general circulation published <br /> in the City of Pleasanton. <br /> <br /> Section 5: This ordinance shall be effective thirty (30) days after the date of its final passage and adoption. <br /> <br /> INTRODUCED at a regular meeting of the City Council of the <br /> City of Pleasanton on January 25, 1983. <br /> ADOPTED at a regular meeting of the City Council of the City <br /> of Pleasanton on February 8, 1983 by the following vote: <br /> <br /> -2- <br /> <br /> <br />
