CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON <br />ALAMEDA COUNTY, CALIFORNIA <br /> <br /> ORDINANCE NO. 1220 <br /> <br />AMENDMENTS TO ARTICLE 3, CHAPTER 2, TITLE II OF THE <br />CITY OF PLEASANTON IMPOSING REGULATIONS ON THE <br />INSTALLATION OF RESIDENTIAL AND NON-RESIDENTIAL <br />SATELLITE EARTH STATIONS <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City of Pleasanton has strived to preserve and <br /> enhance the natural beauty of the City's site by careful <br /> attention to and regulation of the design and <br /> improvement of its residential neighborhoods and <br /> commercial/industrial areas; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City has sought to protect the health, safety, and <br /> general welfare of its citizens by adopting appropriate <br /> zoning and building regulations, said regulations being <br /> designed to assure the safety and quality of life of its <br /> citizens, including the aesthetic qualities of the <br /> community; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the sudden and indiscriminate erection of satellite <br /> earth stations threatens to impinge unnecessarily upon <br /> the aesthetic enjoyment of residents in their <br /> neighborhoods, to undo the careful attention to <br /> architectural design and complementary landscaping <br /> achieved through individual project review of <br /> commercial/industrial projects, and to unnecessarily <br /> risk injury to citizens and their property due to <br /> improper erection; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, in response to the above concerns, the City Council and <br /> Planning Commission initiated a study of such satellite <br /> earth stations and of possible amendments to the Zoning <br /> Ordinance to regulate satellite earth stations in such a <br /> manner so as to avoid the potential evils of <br /> indiscriminate erection of such earth stations; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, a duly noticed public hearing was held on September 17, <br /> 1985; <br /> <br />THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON DOES HEREBY ORDAIN AS <br />FOLLOWS: <br /> <br />Section 1: The above findings are hereby adopted. <br /> <br /> <br />
