BACKGROUND
The Annual Curb and Gutter Replacement project is an annual City program. The intent
of the project is to perform the necessary repairs and improvements of the existing curb
and gutter, walkways and ADA (American with Disabilities Act) access ramps in
preparation for the Annual Ftesurfacing Projects.
On July 20, 2010, Pleasanton's City Council ratified the award of the construction
contract for the subject project to the lowest responsible bidder, Rosas Brothers
Construction, in the amount of $193,112.50. In order to fit the work of this project into
the busy construction inspection schedule for the summer of 2010, the City Manager, on
June 24, 2010, awarded the contract and City Council ratified the award of contract in
July. Council also authorized the Director of Community Development to approve
change orders up to the project contingency amount of $38,623. The subject project has
since been completed and is ready for acceptance.
DISCUSSION
The subject project consisted of removing and replacing 961 feet of concrete curb &
gutter, 975 square feet of sidewalk and driveway, and 53 complete ADA access ramps.
It also included installing 27 truncated domes at existing ADA access ramp locations.
This project is expected to improve drainage flow; reduce citizen complaints and the
associated staff time investigating sidewalk tripping issues; and improve ADA
accessibility within the project limits.
BUDGET
A summary of the project's funding sources and expenditures is presented in
Attachment 1.
Submitted by: Fiscal Review: Approved y:
Brian Dolan Emily Wagner Nelson Fialho
Director of Director of Finance City Manager
Community Development
Attachments:
1.
