THE CITY OF O Nv <br /> /� <br /> €A "N CITY COUNCIL AGENDA REPORT <br /> pL£�1SA Na <br /> May 3, 2011 <br /> Community Development <br /> Engineering Division <br /> TITLE: ACCEPT PUBLIC IMPROVEMENTS PERFORMED BY ROSAS <br /> BROTHERS CONSTRUCTION FOR THE ANNUAL CURB AND GUTTER <br /> REPLACEMENT PROJECT, CIP NO. 095009 <br /> SUMMARY <br /> The subject project consisted of removing and replacing concrete curb & gutter, <br /> sidewalk, driveway and access ramps. It also included the installation of truncated <br /> domes at existing access ramp locations. The subject project is complete and ready for <br /> acceptance by the City Council. <br /> RECOMMENDATION <br /> 1. Accept the improvements for this project. <br /> 2. Authorize the City Clerk to file a Notice of Completion for the subject project. <br /> 3. Authorize payment of the retention in the amount of $19,303.95 to Rosas <br /> Brothers Construction, thirty (30) days after recordation of the Notice of <br /> Completion. <br /> 4. Authorize the transfer of the remaining funds in the amount of $46,789 to the <br /> Streets CIP fund for future streets CIP projects, and close out streets CIP No. <br /> 095009, Annual Curb and Gutter Replacement. <br /> FINANCIAL STATEMENT <br /> This project is expected to decrease maintenance costs associated with ongoing repairs <br /> of the existing curb and gutter, and sidewalk. It is also expected to reduce staff costs <br /> related to the investigation and resolution of potential sidewalk tripping issues. <br /> Furthermore, staff anticipates that this project will reduce roadway paving costs by <br /> improving drainage flow, thereby minimizing roadside water ponding that is one of the <br /> major causes of asphalt concrete failure in roadways. <br /> Funding for this project was provided by the Annual Curb and Gutter Replacement <br /> Project, CIP No. 095009, which was authorized by City Council as part of the 2009/2010 <br /> Capital Improvement Program. <br />
