IN THE AMOUNT OF $456,577 FOR TRAFFIC SIGNAL <br /> INSTALLATION AT THE INTERSECTION OF WEST LAS POSITAS <br /> BOULEVARD AND MUIRWOOD DRIVE, CIP NO. 095032, AND <br /> INTERSECTION IMPROVEMENTS AT STONERIDGE DRIVE AND <br /> STONERIDGE MALL ROAD, CIP NO. 105032 <br /> SUMMARY <br /> Bids have been received for the project and staff recommends award of the construction <br /> contract to the lowest responsible bidder, Tim Paxin's Pacfic Excavation, Inc. in the <br /> amount of $456,577. The work consists of installing a traffic signal and other <br /> intersection improvements at West Las Positas Boulevard and Muirwood Drive and <br /> intersection improvements at Stoneridge Drive and Stoneridge Mall Road (see <br /> Attachment 1 for project locations). <br /> RECOMMENDATION <br /> 1. Approve the plans and specifications for the subject project. <br /> 2. Review the bids and award the construction contract to Tim Paxin's Pacific <br /> Excavation, Inc. of Elk Grove, California, for a low bid amount of $456,577. <br /> 3. Authorize the City Manager to enter into the above construction contract. <br /> 4. Authorize the City Engineer to approve and execute contract change orders <br /> for a contingency amount not to exceed $45,658 (10% of construction bid), if <br /> necessary, for related subject project work. <br /> 5. Authorize the transfer of $50,000 from the Stoneridge Business Center <br /> Improvement Fund and Assessment District Expense Program into CIP No. <br /> 105032, Intersection Improvements at Stoneridge Mall Road and <br /> Embarcadero Court to fund construction of the project. <br /> FINANCIAL STATEMENT <br /> There will be an increase in annual operations and maintenance costs due to the <br /> additional signalized intersection in the City. Project construction will be funded through <br /> the use of Measure B (1/2 cent sales tax) transportation improvement funds and <br /> Stoneridge Business Center Improvement funds. A budget summary is attached <br /> (Attachment 2). <br />
