Commissioner Stark asked about the future disposition of the Task Force for the
Kottinger Place project. Mr. Bocian indicated that the group should be meeting within
the next month or so and will most likely discuss how to move forward.
Chairperson Lopez was informed by Mr. Bocian that a total of twelve developers
submitted proposals for this project.
C. Consideration of Future Housing Commission Representative on the Housing
Element Task Force
Mr. Bocian noted that at the October 19, 2010, the City Council had formed the Housing
Element Task Force and approved a membership composition of two members from City
Council, two members from each of the Housing and Planning Commission, and five at-
large members. Current members from the Housing Commission are Dave Stark and
Colleen Lopez. Since Commissioner Stark's term on the Housing Commission will
expire on April 30, 2011, his last Commission meeting would be April 2011. If no new
Commissioner appointment is made prior to the May Housing Commission meeting, Mr.
Stark would have the option of continuing to serve on the Housing Commission until a
replacement is identified.
Assuming that the City Council makes its appointment of new commissions prior to the
end of Commissioner Stark's current term, his role as a Task Force member would no
longer meet the intent of the Task Force's membership structure. Mr. Bocian advised
that the Commission may wish to affirm to the Council that it prefers for Commissioner
Stark to continue to represent the Housing Commission throughout the term of the Task
Force.
Commissioner Hempill felt that Commissioner Stark should remain on the Housing
Element Task Force and represent the Housing Commission. Commissioner Casey
agreed and thanked Commissioner Stark for serving on the Task Force.
Commissioner Stark indicated that he would be happy to continue representing the
Commission on the Housing Element Task Force.
A motion was made by Commission Hempill, seconded by Commissioner Casey,
recommending that Commissioner Stark be retained as the Housing Commission
representative on the Housing Element Task Force beyond his term on the Housing
Commission.
ROLL CALL VOTE:
AYES: Commissioners Casey, Hempill, Probed, Stark, and Chairperson Lopez.
NOES: None
ABSENT: Commissioner Mermelstein
ABSTAIN: None
Page -6-
