The goal of this campaign is to increase community <br /> education and knowledge of the benefits of recycling and taking one step further in using reusable items such as reusable <br /> bags to prevent waste and pollution. <br /> Grant #: 10 -62, American High School Science Club, Throw in the Towel, Fremont, West County, $19,632.00 - <br /> Grant funds will be used to purchase 22 high efficiency air hand dryers. <br /> Grant #: 10 -63, Livermore High School., Release Time for GoGreen, AP Environmental Bio, Green Academy, <br /> Livermore, East County, $20,400.00 - Funds from this grant will make it possible for Stephen Bailey to continue and <br /> expand the Livermore High School 4R's program, as well as start the AP Environmental Science program, and be part of <br /> the Green Engineering Academy. <br /> The total 2010 Expenditure Plan budget: of $230,000 for Project- grants was approved by the Board along with the <br /> option to carry over all unexpended funds from previous grant years and expend if necessary. Funds from <br /> previous years were expended, and a total of $382,117.42 in Project - grants were awarded. <br /> Multi -Year Grants <br /> The Education Advisory Board awarded 2 Multi -Year grants for the following projects: <br /> Hearst Elementary School, 08 -13 (3rd and final), Environmental Classroom, Pleasanton, East County, $10,000 - <br /> utilizing the GGI framework and the monies from this grant opportunity, the Hearst Community will continue to realize <br /> and achieve our goal of understanding the global ecosystem through environmental stewardship in our own schoolyard. <br /> Alameda Unified School District, 09 -26 (2 of 3 years) Alameda Green Schools Challenge, Alameda, West County, <br /> $42,500.00 - The Alameda Unified School District, with the support of the Alameda Schools Go Green parent- teacher- <br /> principal - district -staff group and the Community Action for a Sustainable Alameda, has launched the Alameda Green <br /> Schools Challenge. The initiative aims to'. implement comprehensive 4Rs curriculum and infrastructure at all AUSD <br /> school sites and district facilities, reduce greenhouse gas emissions district -wide through waste prevention, recycling and <br /> composting, energy efficiency, community education, promote cultural change among our students, parents, teachers, <br /> maintenance staff, and administrators. <br /> The total 2010 Expenditure Plan budget of $52,000 for Multi -Year grants was approved by the Board along with <br /> the option to carry over all unexpended funds from previous grant years and expend if necessary. Funds from <br /> previous years were expended, and a total of $52,500 in Multi -year grants were awarded. <br /> Board Initiated Projects <br /> There were 2 Board Initiated Projects during the 2010 grant cycle. <br /> Grant #: 10 -40, StopWaste.org, Sustainability Intern Program, Oakland, West County, $228,000.00 - With these <br /> grant funds, StopWaste.org will work with city /school district and ACOE staff to hire interns and will provide a month <br /> long training along with twice- monthly training events to provide interns with the opportunity to expand their <br /> sustainability knowledge base and their exposure to a range of sustainability policies and practices. StopWaste.org will be <br /> using a non - profit organization to do the hiring and payroll for the interns. Host agency staff will supervise interns on a <br /> daily basis and engage them in additional sustainability work areas depending on their work flow with teachers and <br /> students in their jurisdiction. <br /> Marsha Jones, Board Member, Reimbursement for RU 14 Update Workshop, $133.60 — Board members voted on <br /> and approved the reimbursement of fees acquired while attending the RU 14 workshop. <br /> The total 2010 Expenditure Plan budget of $228,000 for Board Initiated grants was approved by the Board along <br /> with the option to carry over all unexpended funds from previous grant years and expend if necessary.
