The neighbors are still willing to contribute up to $200.00 to
have the existing windows modified to meet the egress requirements which would allow
the Leroudiers to install a window on the south elevation that has a minimum sill height
of 6 -feet. The neighbors may be agreeable to landscaping if at least three trees were
installed and the trees were spaced in a manner that does not create a "gap" between
them.
Prior to and since the Leroudiers filed an appeal to the City Council, staff has offered
varying suggestions (i.e., different species and number of trees) to the Leroudiers;
however, those suggestions have not been acceptable to the Leroudiers. Therefore,
staff suggests that the Council consider the options outlined below in regard to the
Leroudiers' appeal.
Options for Consideration
The City Council may wish to consider and /or discuss the following:
Option 1: Uphold the appeal and approve the window without requiring landscaping.
Option 2: Deny the appeal and deny the Administrative Design Review application.
This would not allow the proposed window to be installed on the south
elevation.
