BACKGROUND
City Resolution 08 -234 establishing the Committee provides that the City Council may
extend the term of the Committee beyond its initial two years based on an assessment
of needs and responsibilities. While the Committee was established in July 2008, it did
not begin holding public meetings until May 2009. As a result, it's nearing the two year
mark.
As a result of the CAP and other pressing energy and environmental programs being
carried out and reviewed by staff, it's recommended that the Committee be extended for
a period of approximately 24 months to April 30, 2013.
DISCUSSION
During its first two years, the Committee has focused on the Climate Action Plan (CAP),
currently still under review. Along with the CAP, the Committee continues to focus on
single use plastic bags, foam containers, wind turbines, Commercial and Residential
Energy programs, Energy and Water conservation, Community Outreach, Natural
Resource Management and Fleet Replacement Programs. The Committee remains
open and committed to assisting the City in meeting State legislative requirements,
while supporting the City's General Plan.
Sublte y! ; Approve by:
Daniel Sm h Nelson ialho
Director o Operations Services City Manager
Attachment:
1.
