THE CITY OiiF <br />v �i n .�. dui <br />PLE ASANTON. <br />CITY COUNCIL AGENDA REPORT <br />02 <br />March 15, 2011 <br />Assistant City Manager <br />TITLE: APPROVAL OF AGREEMENTS WITH CDCE ENGINEERED SOLUTIONS <br />FOR PURCHASE OF MOBILE DATA COMPUTERS TO REPLACE <br />EXISTING UNITS IN THE POLICE DEPARTMENT AND THE LIVERMORE- <br />PLEASANTON FIRE DEPARTMENT <br />SUMMARY <br />Pleasanton Police Department and the Livermore - Pleasanton Fire Department (LPFD) <br />safety vehicles are equipped with mobile data computers (MDC's) for the purpose of <br />meeting daily activities such as searching secure data bases, identifying addresses, <br />preparing reports, etc. Utilizing this equipment involves ruggedized portable computers, <br />permanent displays located in vehicle cab areas, docking stations that allow the <br />ruggedized computers to be removed, and miscellaneous equipment. Currently, 39 police <br />department units and 11 LPFD units are scheduled for replacement. The City's <br />Information Technologies division conducted a request for proposal process (RFP) and <br />staff is recommending awarding of an agreement to CDCE Engineered Solutions in the <br />amount of $408,967.55 to complete the project. <br />RECOMMENDATION <br />Award the Agreements for Goods and Services to CDCE Engineered Solutions in the <br />amount of $294,146.26 for installation of MDC units in the Pleasanton Police Department <br />and $114,821.55 for the LPFD. (Attachment A) <br />FINANCIAL STATEMENT <br />This purchase is scheduled as part of the City's technology equipment replacement <br />program and funding will come from this fund IT Replacement - 046900; LPFD <br />Technology Replacement -- 037900. <br />
