All buildings or structures within the scope of this code and all construction or work for <br /> which a permit is required shall be subject to inspection by the building & safety official <br /> in accordance with and in the manner provided by this code and sections 305A of the <br /> Pleasanton Building Administrative Code. <br /> Section 2.05 Board of Appeals <br /> A. General. In order to hear and decide appeals of orders, decisions or determinations <br /> made by the Building and Safety Official relative to the application and <br /> interpretations of this code, there is a board of appeals consisting of members who <br /> are qualified by experience and training to pass upon matters pertaining to building <br /> construction and who are not employees of the City of Pleasanton. The Building and <br /> Safety Official shall be an ex officio member of the board and shall act as secretary <br /> to said board but shall have no vote on any matter before the board. The board shall <br /> be appointed by the City and shall hold office at its pleasure. The board shall adopt <br /> rules of procedure for conducting its business and shall render all decisions and <br /> findings in writing to the appellant, with a duplicate copy to the Building and Safety <br /> Official. Appeals to the board shall be processed in accordance with the provisions <br /> contained in section 5.01 of this code. Copies of all rules or regulations adopted by <br /> the board shall be delivered to the Building and Safety Official, who shall make them <br /> freely accessible to the public. <br /> B. Limitations of Authority. The Board shall have no authority relative to interpretation of <br /> the administrative provisions of this code nor shall the board be empowered to waive <br /> requirements of this code. <br /> CHAPTER 3 <br /> DEFINITIONS <br /> Section 3.01 General <br /> For the purpose of this code, certain terms, phrases, words and their derivatives shall <br /> be construed as specified in either this chapter or as specified in the California Building <br /> Code, California Residential Code or the Housing Code. Where terms are not defined, <br /> they shall have their ordinary accepted meanings within the context with which they are <br /> used. The most current edition of Webster's Third New Intemational Dictionary of the <br /> English Language, Unabridged, shall be construed as providing ordinary accepted <br /> meanings. Words used in the singular include the plural and the plural the singular. <br /> Words used in the masculine gender include the feminine and the feminine the <br /> masculine. <br /> Building Code is the current edition of the California Building Code, or for one- and two - <br /> family dwellings the California Residential Code, promulgated by the International Code <br /> Council, as adopted by the City. <br /> Dangerous Buildings is any building or structure deemed to be dangerous under the <br /> provisions of section 3.02 of this code. <br /> 76 <br />
