ORDINANCE NO. 2015
<br /> AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON REPEALING CHAPTERS 20.04,
<br /> 20.08, 20.12, 20.16, 20.20, 20.24, 20.32, 20.34, 20.40, 20.48, 20.52, 20.55, 20.58,
<br /> 20.60, 20.65 AND ADOPTING NEW CHAPTERS 20.04 (BUILDING ADMINISTRATIVE
<br /> CODE), 20.08 (BUILDING CODE), 20.10 (RESIDENTIAL CODE), 20.12 (PLUMBING
<br /> CODE), 20.16 (MECHANICAL CODE), 20.20 (ELECTRICAL CODE), 20.24 (FIRE
<br /> CODE), 20.32 (DANGEROUS BUILDINGS CODE), 20.55 (SWIMMING POOL, SPA
<br /> AND HOT TUB CODE) AND 20.65 (INTERNATIONAL PROPERTY MAINTENANCE
<br /> CODE) OF THE PLEASANTON MUNICIPAL CODE BY ADOPTING BY REFERENCE
<br /> AND AMENDING THE 2009 EDITIONS OF THE INTERNATIONAL BUILDING,
<br /> RESIDENTIAL, FIRE, AND PROPERTY MAINTENANCE CODES; THE 2009
<br /> EDITIONS OF THE UNIFORM PLUMBING, MECHANICAL AND THE SWIMMING
<br /> POOL, SPA AND HOT TUB CODES; THE 2008 EDITION OF THE NATIONAL
<br /> ELECTRICAL CODE; AND PMC CHAPTER 20.36 (SECURITY REGULATIONS).
<br /> WHEREAS, the State of California Building Standards Commission has adopted a new
<br /> Title 24 California Code of Regulations, the State Building Standards Code, which will become
<br /> effective on January 1, 2010; and
<br /> WHEREAS, California Health and Safety Code Section 17958 and Section 17958.5
<br /> allow the City, by ordinance, to make changes to the State Building Standards Code and other
<br /> regulations adopted by reference pursuant to California Health and Safety Code Section 17922;
<br /> and
<br /> WHEREAS, California Health and Safety Code Section 17958.5 requires that such
<br /> changes must be determined to be reasonably necessary because of local climatic, geologic or
<br /> topographical conditions; and
<br /> WHEREAS, California Health and Safety Code Section 17958.7 requires that the City,
<br /> before making any changes pursuant to Health and Safety Code Sections 17958 and Section
<br /> 17958.5, shall make an express finding that each such modification of change is needed.
<br /> NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON DOES
<br /> HEREBY ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:
<br /> Section 1. The following chapters of the Pleasanton Municipal Code are repealed:
<br /> 20.04, 20.08, 20.12, 20.16, 20.20, 20.24, 20.32, 20.34, 20.40, 20.48, 20.52, 20.55, 20.58, 20.60,
<br /> and 20.65.
<br /> Section 2. Chapters 20.04, 20.08, 20.10, 20.12, 20.16, 20.20, 20.24, 20.32, 20.55
<br /> and 20.65 of the Pleasanton Municipal Code are hereby added as provided in the attached
<br /> Exhibit 1.
<br /> Section 3. Chapter 20.36.050 Security Regulations of the Pleasanton Municipal
<br /> Code is hereby amended to read as follows:
<br /> "20.36.050 Administration.
<br /> This Chapter shall be administered by the Building and Safety Official as a part of the most
<br /> current edition of the California Building Code, Title 24, Part 2 and the California Residential
