Commendation for Dr. Harris Goodman for accomplishing Grand Slam of Ultra Running <br /> Vice Mayor Thorne presented a Proclamation and commended Dr. Harris Goodman for <br /> accomplishing the Grand Slam Ultra Running competition, having been one of thirteen <br /> competitors who completed 4, 100 -mile races. <br /> 16. Proclamation for National Family Week -YMCA of the East Bay <br /> Vice Mayor Thorne proclaimed November 21 -29, 2010 as National Family Week and urged all <br /> citizens to recognize contributions made by families. <br /> 17. Public Comment <br /> Bart Hughes spoke regarding the exploding entitlement expenses Pleasanton faces and <br /> paraphrased an article written by the Pleasanton Weekly in October 2002 regarding retirement <br /> benefits. He asked that something be done for the future of Pleasanton citizens and employees. <br /> Cathe Norman read the names and asked for remembrance of military men and women killed <br /> since the last Council meeting; 1 in Iraq and 39 in Afghanistan. <br /> Fred Norman congratulated the newly elected councilmembers, and noted nothing has changed <br /> regarding his request to try to do something to end the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. <br /> Nancy Wedge spoke regarding regulation of cell phone towers near residential areas and of the <br /> 65 -foot cell tower less than 300 feet from homes in the Corte Monterey neighborhood. She <br /> noted the Walnut Creek City Council is considering a moratorium on such structures and asked <br /> that Pleasanton consider the same. <br /> Dr. Robert Gray spoke regarding the City's promotion of green energy, the high costs of solar <br /> energy, and the less expensive options of residential, small wind generation for rooftops.
