__ portions are done. He explained that in cases like this, the City would then require the developer
to post a landscape bond until the landscaping is completed.

Mr. Wes Jost stated that the City has a CIP project scheduled for Spring to widen that
intersection and has requested McDonald's Restaurant to delay the landscaping of that portion to
facilitate the project.

Chairperson Maas requested staff to have McDonald's Restaurant cover that portion with some
turf so it would look nicer and more complete.

Commissioner Roberts noted that the local newspapers had been carrying articles on the senior
housing proposal at St. Augustine's Church and the housing development at the Vintage Hills
Shopping Center site even before they went before the Planning Commission. She inquired
when these items would be heard by the Commission.

Mr. Iserson replied that the newspaper reporters routinely come to the Planning Department and
look at applications that have come in. He noted that they have complete access to this
information since these are public documents. He indicated that the item at St. Augustine's
Church would come before the Commission in December, and that of the Shopping Center in
January. He added that the latter item is scheduled for a Housing Commission workshop on
Thursday, November 21,2002.

-

8.

MATTERS FOR COMMISSION'S REVIEW/ACTION

a. Future Planning Calendar

Chairperson Maas advised that the next Planning Commission meeting would be held on
Monday, November 25,2002. She further advised that the Tri-Valley Planning Commissioners
Roundtable will be held at the Tennis Clubhouse on Thursday, November 21, 2002, at 6:30 p.m.
Commissioner Sullivan and Commissioner Kameny indicated that they would not be able to
make it to the Roundtable due to prior commitments.

Commissioner Arkin advised that the Housing Commission would be meeting on the same
evening and would be considering the Affordable Housing portion of the PUD application of
Charter Properties to build homes on the current Vintage Hills Shopping Center site. He stated
that he was not sure at this time which meeting he would attend.

Mr. Iserson asked the Commissioners if they wanted to hold a second meeting in December. The
Commissioners said no.

b.
