Commissioner Roberts advised that the Housing Element Committee is conducting a hearing to
r receive public input regarding what should go in the Housing Element Update. She noted that
others will have speakers there addressing the need for affordable housing, particularly for
seniors. She suggested that Commissioner Arkin attend the hearing and provide input. Ms. Seto
cautioned that because two members of the Planning Commission are members of this
Committee, a third member can attend and participate under the Brown Act under the element of
the meeting open to the public, but the concern is getting too many people from one Commission
at a task force meeting on a item that will eventually come before the entire Commission.
Commissioner Arkin stated that he wants to be sure that this other area of need is addressed.

Commissioner Roberts noted that the Elephant Bar is not coming into the Hungry Hunter
location and the Hungry Hunter has renewed its lease.

Commissioner Roberts gave kudos to staff, noting that she had seen a televised meeting of
another planning commission which did not have the staff assistance that the Pleasanton
Planning Commission receives.

8. MATTERS FOR COMMISSION'S REVIEW/ACTION (continued)

a. Future Planning Calendar

No action was taken.

r-

b.

Actions of the City Council

No action was taken.

c. Actions of the Zoning Administrator

No action was taken.

e. "Draft Compact for a Sustainable Bay Area"

Commissioner Roberts noted that staff has advised that the City Council determined that a
sustainability plan for Pleasanton was not a priority at this time. Commissioner Harvey stated
that the Planning Commission was asked to do two things: provide feedback on the draft
compact and consider recommending to the City Council endorsement of the draft compact.
Chairperson Sullivan advised that he understood that the City Council did not place the
development of the City's own sustainabi1ity plan as a high priority, but it did not mean that it
did not want the City to participate in activities of something going on regionally. The Planning
Commission agreed to discuss this item at the next meeting.

9.
