THE CITY OF pLE ASANTONO CITY COUNCIL AGENDA REPORT December 7, 2010 Community Services TITLE: APPROVE THE HARRINGTON PUBLIC ART ACQUISITION PLAN AND THE IMPLEMENTATION OF "PHASE ONE" OF THE PLAN SUMMARY Pleasanton residents, Nancy and Gary Harrington have proposed a 10 -year public art acquisition plan to assist the City of Pleasanton with acquiring public art. The Harrington Public Art Acquisition Plan (Plan) has been reviewed and approved by the Civic Arts Commission, the Parks and Recreation Commission, the Economic Vitality Advisory Committee, and the Board of Directors of the Pleasanton Downtown Association (Attachment 1). On behalf of Mr. and Mrs. Harrington, staff is requesting that the City Council approve the Plan and the implementation of "Phase One" of the Plan, which specifies the acquisition, location, and installation of three (3) sculptures (Attachment 2). CIVIC ARTS COMMISSION RECOMMENDATION That the City Council approve the Nancy and Gary Harrington Public Art Acquisition Plan and the implementation of "Phase One" of the Plan. PARKS AND RECREATION COMMISSION RECOMMENDATION That the City Council approve the Nancy and Gary Harrington Public Art Acquisition Plan and the implementation of "Phase One" of the Plan. RECOMMENDATION That the City Council approve the Nancy and Gary Harrington Public Art Acquisition Plan and the implementation of "Phase One" of the Plan. FINANCIAL STATEMENT Funding for the acquisition of all three (3) sculptures has been provided by Nancy and Gary Harrington. There will be incremental costs involved with site preparation, installation and /or signage. It is estimated that these costs will not exceed more than $7,500, per sculpture. Funds are available in the Public Art Acquisition Fund for this project and are included FY 2010/11 Budget.
