MATTERS INITIATED BY COUNCILMEMBERS <br /> Item 8a <br /> Appointment to the Human Services Commission <br /> It was moved by Mr. Butler, and seconded by Ms. Mohr, that <br /> Resolution No. 90 -206 be adopted, appointing Mr. Robert R. Kenny as <br /> a Regular Member of the Human Services Commission. <br /> The roll call vote was as follows: <br /> AYES: Councilmembers Brandes, Butler, Mohr, Tarver and Mayor <br /> Mercer <br /> NOES: None <br /> ABSENT: None <br /> ABSTAIN: None <br /> Reauest for Sports Parks Maintenance <br /> Mr. Brandes indicated that the Councilmembers received a <br /> letter from the Pleasanton Youth Sports League regarding the <br /> maintenance of the City's sports parks. He stated that the matter <br /> has been brought to the attention of staff on several occasions and <br /> that the Parks and Recreation Commission suggested that it be <br /> referred to the Council. He requested that the matter be put on <br /> the Agenda for the November 20th City Council Meeting and that the <br /> people who sent the letter be notified. <br /> Mr. Mercer inquired if the Parks and Recreation Commission has <br /> considered the matter. <br /> Ms. Acosta replied that the Commission has discussed the issue <br /> but that the letter has not been sent to them. <br /> Mr. Butler agreed with Mr. Brandes' comments. He suggested <br /> that the Staff Report on the matter include a recommendation from <br /> the Parks and Recreation Commission. <br /> Election Provisions in the Pleasanton Municipal Code <br /> Mr. Brandes requested that the Agenda for the November 20th <br /> City Council Meeting include amendments to the Pleasanton Municipal <br /> Code to establish that newly - elected officials are to assume their <br /> office at the first Council meeting in December and that <br /> Councilmembers on a safe seat are prohibited from running for the <br /> office of Mayor. <br /> - 10 - <br /> 11 -6 -90 <br />
