be put away to replace the radio system because the $30 per month will also include a <br />replacement reserve for the existing system. <br />Councilmember Cook - Kallio questioned if the $116,000 maintenance cost was inclusive of what <br />the City is currently paying. Mr. Bocian said this amount is more than what the City is now <br />paying, and while this analysis has not been run, it will not cost the City as much. <br />There were no public speakers. <br />Vice Mayor Thorne said he could not imagine cities not signing onto the system, given the <br />benefits of enhanced communications. Mayor Hosterman agreed and said the idea has become <br />a tangible one and looks forward to the system going live. <br />Councilmember McGovern questioned if the Fire Chief was looking into how large numbers of <br />people are moved around. Chief Miguel said there are two components of moving people <br />around; 1) finding roadways; and 2) providing the vehicle. They are currently negotiating with <br />Caltrans which is going well, and have also made communication with BART. The most <br />significant negotiations are occurring with AC Transit to bring them onto the system and they <br />would be the major people- moving force. <br />MOTION: It was m/s by Hosterman /Cook - Kallio to approve the operating agreement with the <br />East Bay Regional Communications System Authority. Motion passed by the following vote: <br />Ayes: Councilmember Cook - Kallio, McGovern, Thorne, Mayor Hosterman <br />Noes: None <br />Absent: Councilmember Sullivan <br />MATTERS INITIATED BY COUNCIL <br />Councilmember McGovern thanked everyone who was involved with the opening of the <br />Firehouse Theatre, which she said was a major event for the community. <br />COUNCIL REPORTS: None <br />ADJOURNMENT: None <br />There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 8:56 p.m., with a tribute to our <br />nation's men and women serving in the military.
