Our family is excited about having a new "flag ship" Safeway grocery store at the Bernal Property along with mixed -use retail businesses at this location. It will conveniently serve Pleasanton residents at a major gateway. This project also represents a viable development opportunity in an economic doldrum. This project will create many short -term construction jobs, as well as many long -term new jobs for Pleasanton, while increasing the tax base for the benefit of the entire community. Safeway is one of California's leading corporate citizens which Pleasanton must be proud to claim as a home- town business. Along with South Bay Development Company, a Bay Area company with an excellent track record for quality projects throughout Northern California, this project presents an exciting opportunity for our community.
