THE CITY OF O]�{/ <br /> V <br /> CITY COUNCIL AGENDA REPORT <br /> pL£ ASANTON. <br /> October 5, 2010 <br /> Operations Services Department <br /> TITLE: ADOPT A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY OF PLEASANTON TO <br /> PARTICIPATE IN THE BEACON AWARD PROGRAM <br /> SUMMARY <br /> The Institute for Local Government's California Climate Action Network (CCAN) has <br /> implemented a new recognition program called the Beacon Award: Local Leadership <br /> Toward Solving Climate Change. The Beacon Award publicly recognizes California <br /> cities and counties that (1) reduce greenhouse gas emissions and save energy, (2) <br /> adopt policies and programs to address climate change, and (3) promote sustainability. <br /> RECOMMENDATION <br /> Adopt the attached resolution to approve participation in the Beacon Award program. <br /> Participation in this program will provide the City and its leaders with recognition for <br /> saving energy, conserving resources, promoting sustainability, and reducing <br /> greenhouse gas emissions. <br /> FINANCIAL STATEMENT <br /> There are no costs associated with participating in this program. Staff time to prepare <br /> and submit the award application is estimated at one hour. <br />
