THE CITY OF 04 <br /> - - <br /> p L£AS TONG CITY COUNCIL AGENDA REPORT <br /> October 5, 2010 <br /> Community Development <br /> Engineering Division <br /> TITLE: APPROVE PLANS AND SPECIFICATIONS, REVIEW BIDS AND AWARD <br /> CONTRACT TO JJR CONSTRUCTION, INC. IN THE AMOUNT OF <br /> $123,405.00 FOR THE ANNUAL SIDEWALK MAINTENANCE PROJECT, <br /> CIP NO. 095012 <br /> SUMMARY <br /> Bids have been received for the subject project for removing and replacing <br /> approximately 9,000 square feet of sidewalk, 800 linear feet of curb & gutter, and <br /> installing 10 access ramps. Staff is recommending award of the construction contract to <br /> the lowest responsible bidder, JJR Construction, Inc., in the amount of $123,405. The <br /> project consists of removing and replacing sidewalks that are tripping hazards, curb & <br /> gutter for better drainage flow, and installation of access ramps for accessibility at <br /> various locations in the City. <br /> RECOMMENDATION <br /> 1. Approve plans and specifications for this project. <br /> 2. Review the bids received and award the contract for the project to JJR Construction, <br /> of San Mateo, California, for a low bid amount of $123,405. <br /> 3. Authorize the City Manager to enter into the project contract. <br /> 4. Authorize the Director of Community Development to approve and execute any <br /> required contract change orders to address unanticipated project conditions for a <br /> not -to- exceed amount of $25,000 (approximately 20% of the contract). <br /> FINANCIAL STATEMENT <br /> This project is part of an annual ongoing program that will replace and upgrade existing <br /> infrastructure and will reduce maintenance costs. Funding for this project will be <br /> provided by the Capital Improvement Program (CIP) project, Annual Sidewalk <br /> Maintenance (CIP No. 095012). A summary of funding and estimated expenditures is <br /> presented in Attachment 3. <br />
