Review FY 2009/10 City Grant and Contract Service Agreement Mandatory Final <br /> Performance Reports <br /> Ms. Yurchak advised that three agencies were attending to present their required Mid -Term <br /> Reports and Final Performance Reports. <br /> Child Care Links, Community Service Project (Nicole Roman) — thanked the Commission for its <br /> continued support of Child Care Links. Child Care Links exceeded its goals and have increased <br /> the number of providers serviced to a total of 830. Funds allocated allowed parents and <br /> providers to attend low -cost workshops providing them with the tools necessary to strengthen <br /> the capacity of children in preparing them for kindergarten. A total of 1,239 Pleasanton residents <br /> were serviced through the program and many attended the Tri- Valley Pre - School Fair. Ms. <br /> Roman shared a story of a local grandmother who was raising her grandchildren and had been <br /> thankful for the services provided by Child Care Links. <br /> Chairperson Nagler discussed with Ms. Roman the drop -in number of people using child care <br /> due to changes in the economic climate. Child Care Links Executive Director, Carol Thompson <br /> provided additional information regarding this and the need for the agency to continue to receive <br /> subsidized money to assist families in need. She advised that a considerable amount of training <br /> classes are offered by Child Care Links. <br /> Commissioner Wilson questioned whether any ethnicity problems were encountered due to <br /> language problems. He was advised by Ms. Thompson that none were evident. <br /> Eden l &R, 2 -1 -1, (Barbara Bernstein) — advised that 2 -1 -1 not only answers individual calls, but <br /> is providing a prescreening service to make sure individuals do not go to places where they are <br /> not eligible. The 2 -1 -1 services are being used community wide. During the last year the <br /> program has handled 758 Pleasanton calls (a 50% increase over the previous year). The <br /> primary call for help in Pleasanton has been for food, whereas in the county it has been for <br /> shelter. Over 1,300 referrals were given out for health and human services programs and 116 <br /> referrals for housing. Ninety-eight percent of all Pleasanton callers indicated they were well <br /> satisfied with the services provided. A great amount of outreach was conducted in the Tri - Valley <br /> and much promotion about the 2 -1 -1 program was provided. <br /> Commissioner Rowland commented on the great service being provided through the 2 -1 -1 <br /> program. <br /> Senior Support Program of the Tri - Valley, In -Home and Case Management Services (Marlene <br /> Petersen) — thanked the Commission for its continued support. She advised that the three <br /> programs funded were case management, friendly visiting, and in -home mental health services. <br /> Two of the programs exceeded its goals and all services assisted Pleasanton residents in finding <br /> resources to remain independent.
