~ Chairperson Sullivan noted that he would like to see options that include alternatives to this plan, as well as an update on the financing plan, with options reflecting the outcome of the update. Commissioner Arkin stated that he would like to have options presented at another workshop. Chairperson Sullivan stated that the goal would be to develop a project with the least grading, visual, and environmental impacts. Commissioner Roberts returned to the dais. 7. MATTERS INITIATED BY COMMISSION MEMBERS In response to an inquiry from Commissioner Arkin, Mr. Grubstick advised that the traffic engineering department is looking at making some minor modifications to the Dennis Drive/Newton street area that they feel will improve the safety of the area. Mr. Grubstick advised that Commissioner Arkin could speak with Mike Tassano regarding this matter. Mr. Swift noted that the street would be widened with future development in this area. Commissioner Roberts advised that a CD rom on Green Building practices is available. She noted that she would provide the information to staff. She also commented on the "Builder's Book Store" in Berkeley. ,r-- Chairperson Sullivan noted that Jennifer Hosterman made a proposal to the City Council last night that the City establish an environmental commission to advise the City Council on environmental matters. She proposed that one of the first tasks would be to develop a sustainable plan for the City. Chairperson Sullivan noted that he fully supports this recommendation. In response to an inquiry from Commissioner Arkin, Mr. Swift advised that Council would review the consideration of an energy policy/strategy on February 6. 8.
