BACKGROUND <br /> On June 5, 2009, the Fire Department received official notification from the State of <br /> California, Emergency Medical Services Authority of the upcoming background <br /> screening requirements under AB 2917. One of the items outlined in this letter was the <br /> requirement that the Fire Department conduct an FBI background check on each new <br /> Firefighter -EMT hired after July 1, 2010.
