FOR THE BERNAL AVENUE BRIDGE AND STREET <br /> WIDENING FROM VINEYARD AVENUE TO DEL VALLE PARKWAY, <br /> CIP NOS. 995067 AND 005029 AND DEL VALLE PARKWAY /NEVADA <br /> STREET SEWER IMPROVEMENTS, CIP NO. 902028 <br /> SUMMARY <br /> This project consisted of constructing a second bridge over the Arroyo Del Valle <br /> adjacent to the existing bridge, widening the Bernal Avenue approaches to allow for two <br /> lanes of vehicular traffic in each direction, constructing wetland and riparian mitigation <br /> areas, and installing a sanitary sewer line across the arroyo. Construction of the subject <br /> project is complete and ready for acceptance by the City Council. <br /> RECOMMENDATION <br /> 1. Accept the improvements for the subject project. <br /> 2. Authorize the City Clerk to file a Notice of Completion. <br /> 3. Authorize payment of the project retention in the amount of $40,011.57 to Gordon N. <br /> Ball, Inc. thirty days after recordation of the Notice of Completion. <br /> FINANCIAL STATEMENT <br /> This project is anticipated to create a nominal increase in operations and maintenance <br /> costs due to increased pavement surface areas and additional landscaped areas for <br /> future maintenance. As part of the project's environmental permit conditions of <br /> approval, additional mitigation and monitoring costs are required for approximately five <br /> years after the completion of the mitigation areas. These costs will be paid from the <br /> balance remaining in the Bernal Avenue Bridge project, CIP No. 995067. <br />
