CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON <br /> <br /> ALAMEDA COUNTY, CALIFORNIA <br /> <br /> ORDINAaNCE NO. 1150 <br /> <br /> AMENDMENTS TO CERTAIN SECTIONS OF TITLE II <br /> PERTAINING TO HEIGHT AND DESIGN OF ACCESSORY <br /> BUILDINGS IN RESIDENTIAL DISTRICTS <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Council received the Planning Commission's recommenda- <br /> tion for amendment of certain sections of the <br /> zoning code regarding height and design of accessory <br /> buildings in residential districts; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, a duly noticed public hearing was held on August 14, <br /> 1984; <br /> <br />THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON DOES HEREBY <br />ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: <br /> <br />Section 1: Section 2-5.44, Article 3, Chapter 2 of Title II <br /> of the Ordinance Code of the City of Pleasanton is <br /> amended by adding subsection "f" as follows: <br /> <br /> "f. Accessory structures exceeding ten (10) feet <br /> in height shall be subject to design review <br /> pursuant to Section 2-10.04 of this chapter." <br /> <br />Section 2: Section 2-10.04, Article 19, Chapter 2 of Title <br /> II of the Ordinance Code of the City of Pleasanton <br /> is amended in its entirety to read as follows: <br /> <br /> "§2-10.04 Purposes and Authorization. In order <br /> to preserve the natural beauty of the City's site, <br /> to prevent indiscriminate clearing of property and <br /> the destruction of trees and shrubs, to prevent <br /> excessive grading of hillsides and creation of <br /> drainage hazards; to ensure that structures are <br /> properly related to their sites and to surrounding <br /> sites and structures, to prevent the erection of <br /> structures or signs that would be inharmonious <br /> with their surroundings; and to ensure that open <br /> spaces, parking areas, pedestrian walks, and land- <br /> scaping are arranged to accomplish the objectives <br /> of this chapter, plans for all new uses and structures, <br /> except single family dwellings, and for all directly <br /> illuminated signs, and all signs with a surface <br /> area of 24 square feet or more, shall be subject <br /> to review by the Board of Design Review, and all <br /> accessory structures which exceed ten (10) feet in <br /> height shall be subject to review by the Zoning <br /> Administrator. The ugly, the inharmonious, the <br /> monotonous, and the hazardous shall be barred, but <br /> originality in site, planning, architecture, <br /> landscaping, and graphic design shall not be <br /> suppressed.
